Biography

Chance brought Copper Ocean together, when Mike Chen emailed original bassist Eric Scharer about a nightclub Eric's Panic Nightclub. Soon the two formed a friendship over the common bond of musical taste. Serena also contacted the club, looking for musicians with similar influences. The three joined forces and recruited drummer Eric Bateman to complete the band.

Together, they recorded the 11 Hours EP and the album In The Middle We Met. With inspirations and influences such as The Smiths, The Pixies, Throwing Muses, U2 and Blur, Copper Ocean quickly found their sound and started playing shows all over the Bay Area.

Eric Scharer left the band late in 2002 to pursue other ventures. Kenneth Martin filled in on bass for a short while before Gabe Lieuw joined the Copper Ocean team. With the lineup back in place, Copper Ocean can currently be found playing a show near you in the Bay Area!
